DRIVEBY is one of these songs that came about without a real plan
We wrote this one on a rainy day in Berlin and it was a great moment to get out of Munich
And spend some time in the capital with old friends and be creative in the midst of it all
The day before we wrote the song, I remember us attending a German festival
It was something like a version of a German Coachella which was pretty weird
Because no one was wearing like band shirts or something
They all had glitter in their faces and-and were dressed like they attended a ball or something like that
So, Mo took it pretty seriously and enjoyed the day in the sun a bit too much
So, the next day it was raining like hell and he was late for the session
Because of the heavy rain his subway had problems
So, he decided to take one of these city scooters, uh, which were standing around on every corner
With his mobile in one hand to navigate through Berlin
He drove 45 minutes until he had to get off 'cause the studio was outside the scooters reachable area
So far so good, so after a good walk in the rain he couldn't reach us on the phone
'Cause we were already starting to make music in the studio
Man, he was pretty pissed off when he finally arrived at the studio
I'm so sorry about that but
Let's go back to DRIVEBY
Sometimes you just come up with stuff that is waiting in your subconsciousness
And you just start to bring it up by writing down whatever comes to your mind
It happened not only once, that the lines I came up with made sense later on
So, take for instance the chorus line
I don't get your ignorance
I could apply this one to a lot of things happening right know
