When did we transition from relative bliss to raised fists? When did the news get less "face painting and car wash" And more "brace for nuclear holocaust"? Well, never See, as our screens get bigger, our world is getting smaller And the universe is hauling us by the collar Forcing us to gawk at the squalor that all our deeds have wrought The sad historical truth is that Rodney Kings have always been beaten in the streets And Ghandis have always been gunned down in front of stunned crowds Way back in the day we had witchcraft and fiery stakes Contrasted to today's class struggle and tax breaks Breaking down economic constitution The issue here is fear and misunderstanding Since caves, we've been afraid of what we don't connect with So our directive has been directly in check with protecting our necks We're animals, complete with gnashing teeth, thumbs, bloodlust, and iPads It just took cameras in our pockets to realize we were that bad
